Palate
Hand-harvested late in the season, it has finesse and controlled power with bright plummy, boysenberry flavours, a tightness of structure and tannins that are supple and satisfying. It has wonderful depth and pleasing length.

Winemakers comments
In the 1980’s the vision of our founder was to make an elegant, balanced vibrant cabernet from the coolest site in the region. This remains the focus. Gaia just rolls out seemingly better vintage by vintage.

Cellaring potential
25 years.

93 Points

A modest weight to the wine, a crispness to fruit character, a silty web of fine tannin, effusive perfume of blackcurrant, dried Italian herbs, green olive, dried twigs and leaves. It's an attractive wine, energetic and a little peaky in its freshness and edginess right now, needing time to mellow and mesh somewhat, though you see quality of fruit and finesse underlying. It distinctly needs time to soften.
