Vintage notes
2022’s growing season was mild & dry with warm flowering conditions developing average yields. Cooler than usual night temperatures helped with brilliant natural acidity levels and ripening conditions were near perfect. There were no significant heat events which also helped with aromatics. 2022 promises to be one of the great years for the Barossa. Rainfall: 435ml (April ’21-March ’22 avg. 465ml).

Vineyards: Bethany, Ebenezer, Greenock, Krondorf, Flaxman Valley, Moculta at 260-500m elevation (60% Eden Valley, 40% Barossa Valley). Soils: Sand, red/yellow clay, limestone, bluestone, quartz and ironstone.

Winemakers Comments
I adore blending this wine as it is a chance for me to play with the old adage, ‘The whole is greater than the sum of its parts’. Certainly, the best value, most traditional style and most popular wine of the portfolio.

A keenly priced shiraz that is sourced from an amalgam of Barossan parishes – Bethany, Ebenezer, Greenock, Krondorf, Flaxman Valley and Moculta (60/40% Eden Valley/Barossa Valley). Bright crimson with a wash of plum and black cherry fruits, thick with spice and hints of dried herbs, dark chocolate, licorice, gentle wood spice and earth. It retains a lightness of form and bright energy despite its considerable fruit depth, and that all makes for a solid (and delicious) bistro-style wine.
